Ah, to me, "city block" implies that the base is a rail grid with trains delivering products from one section to another. ReplyBeaconed & moduled build for refined and refined hazard concrete. Based on Nilaus's City Block design he is using in his Megabase in a Book series. Unfortunately I couldn't make it fit exactly inside one city block so it does stick out a bit at the top, any suggestions on how to fix this would be greatly appreciated. Inputs: 180 Stone Bricks/s100x100 is quite enough for a lot of usecases. You can use more than 1 block for processing, belts are quite helpful. You should always have the exact same number of trains for any given item as you have unload stations for it.And for the rails that go with these (RHD): Full RHD and signals will accommodate well a train spanning less or equal to a chunk (4 car train including locomotive). I found 5x5 blocks to work better, especially with 1:2 trains. As you have it built now, trains won't be able to bypass a train stopped at a station, so there's lots of opportunities for grid lock as is. It also gave me enough room to run a second stop stacked above each of the stops, so I could ...make an absolute grid aligned print of the stone tiles. place 4 copies of this tile print in a 2x2 block layout. place the power poles for the center corner of this 2x2 grid out to the joining roboports. create a 4-way intersection centered on this corner. add decoratives and make the 4-way block print. Most City Block players seem to choose square groups of chunks but could be rectangular and there's no reason to limit it to chunks; that's just an easy size given the game's grid view. Some players align block edges so they make 4-way train intersections; but those are problematic to signal and prevent deadlocks.City blocks? Question. It helps if you can keep most deliveries fairly local. e.g. a ton of your green circuits go right into making red circuits, so if those production areas are far apart then it generates a lot more train traffic across the whole grid. 3.Find blueprints for the video game Factorio. My first city block attempt with 96x96 blocks and 1-4 trains used that method, but I ended up with a few bottlenecks. You probably have a high enough density of intersections that there's no issue, and I bet your 1-1 trains absolutely fly around the factory. ...Remember that though chunks are 32x32, Large Power Poles must be 30 apart, so they will not fit nicely at max length. With that in mind, I'd suggest using the "border chunks" for the rail lines. If you want a block that is 6x6, then design your rail network around that. You should offset the beacons so you have the gap in the middle instead of near the belt. That way the iron smelter on the 'left' gains an extra beacon. Smelters on the right are already covered by 6 beacons. Also 4 blue belts output is overkill, this won't do more than 1.5 belts from 5 belts of ore.The blueprint contains the entire outer path, but you still want its width/length at 100. This ensures that every time you plop down the city block blueprint the neighboring roboports just barely connect to each other, but then also the city blocks at the edge of your base still have the full surrounding path. I hope that made any sense.City blocks, defined by the placement of roboports, aligned to rail such that rail can sit directly next to robo ports. Blocks can be 1, 1.5, 2 blocks etc, although if covering partial blocks must only do so to connect to rail (which often covers out of block) For rail, signals are only on incoming side, drive on the right. Get your train system set up first, then transition to a city block design. Have each city block designed to make one type of thing, with any inputs supplied entirely by your train network. 1.For 2 input blocks there is a good enough amount of room. For 3 inputs, things will be tight, but doable. For 4 inputs, there won't be much room for processing, unless bots are used. Worse case scenario I am willing to use two city blocks together, if needed. This is my first time doing large scale cityblock. I am using standard celtic knots and 1-4 trains. My basic design philosophy for the city blocks is that they would all have 1 input and the possibility of multiple output, but for the oil processing blocks I might have to change this philosophy. The small blocks and quantities mean it's mostly 1-2 trains with 2-4s for some high quantity stuff. It's also right hand entry to blocks only, due to the lack of intersection space. That's made for some inefficient looping around the block - but with so many paths because of the block count I've not really had congestion issues.City blocks? Question. If you really care about these buffers, you can add a clock circuit to periodically change the limits from 0 to 1 and back so they'll randomly select a station when a train wants to ...It’s a question of scale. Whenever there is more than one train on a track, there is the possibility that trains can crash into one another. To prevent this, we place signals along the track and at crossings. Signals split the tracks into different parts called blocks. The signals then ensure that only one train can be in each block. Any ...Chunk-aligned rails are easily alignable to the world center (0,0). In order to be chunk-aligned, everything must be in a multiple of 32 blocks, which may or may not always be the most convenient size. But with blueprint grids, you don't have to worry about this! You can place one block, blueprint it, and make a grid.Rail blocks go around the outside of your city blocks. You can fit the different rail blocks (eg straight, left turn, right turn, t junction) together to form a square around your green circuit city block.
