The dipstick appears to be correct, but when I change oil, it only takes a little over 2 quarts before the level on the dipstick shows it to be at the top of the "full" mark. There are no large dents on the oil pan to cause it to read high.First, does the tractor move if you pull back on the power director lever. If not, check the set screw at the base of the lever where it goes over the shaft. You can adjust the PD by removing the right side plate on the torque tube. You adjust it by moving shims. Over 400 rpm or so, the impulse pawls will retract and the engine will run. To inspect the impulse, you'll need a puller to pull off the coupler assy. Manual says to tighten that nut 20 inch pounds more than turning torque. Mine checked out at 185 inch pounds turning, so I tightened it down until it went to 205 to 210 inch pounds. New guy here. I have a 540 articulated loader that someone stole part of the hydraulic pumps. I have the big pump that bolts to the engine but not the two smaller pumps that bolts to it. I don't remember having any trouble getting the broken parts out of the differential. The big problem I had was getting the brake drum off the broken axel. It is a press fit with a very large Woodworth Key in it. I made a puller and used a torch and it would not come off.Had same type pan on at least one of my WD's too. You could try removing the return fitting on the top of the pump and see if it will run. If so than that will verify this problem. There is a glass ball in that fitting and it will plug with flex ring particles and kill the tractor instantly.Great restoration project. $7000 without engine $8200 with engine.
